Help Us Cool the Market!

If you have been to the Farm Market on one of these warm muggy days, you may have noticed it's a little uncomfortable. Even if you haven't noticed...we HAVE!

We could win $5,000 (for dehumidifiers that would make it considerably more comfortable!!!!) in the "Love Your Farmers Market" online contest, sponsored by Care2.com and LocalHarvest.org. Every vote helps promote local food, family farms and sustainable agriculture. Please help my farmers market win by voting today.

The Love Your Farmers Market contest is sponsored by Care2.com and LocalHarvest.org. Vote today and help raise awareness of the importance of local foods, small farms, and community farmers markets in America.

Care2 is the largest and most trusted information and action site for people who care to make a difference in their lives and the world. www.care2.com!

Care2 is partnering with LocalHarvest.org, America's most popular website for finding food grown close to home, to raise awareness of local foods, family farms, and community farmers markets through this fun, summer-long contest.
Do you love your local market in Norfolk? Then go to: www.care2.com/farmersmarket, find your favorite market in the list, and vote. It's that easy, and your farmers market could win $5,000!

You could be a winner, too - every week we'll be picking one voter to win a free organic cotton Care2 tote bag. You can fill it with fresh fruits and veggies at your farmers market!

Such a contest couldn't be more timely. With an ongoing recession, food scares and growing concern over industrial farming practices, we're all searching for ways to reconnect with local, healthy and safe foods for ourselves and our families. More and more, Americans are visiting their local farmers markets to feed their families and support their local farmers.

So what better way to support the small family farmers near Norfolk than by helping your farmers market win $5,000 - vote today!

Get Fresh Cafe Continues to Grow!

We did it! Our cafe is now a fully certified kitchen!  Look for lots of new items on the menu, dinners to go, the return of our awesome smoked-at-the-market items - whole chickens, BBQ ribs, barbeque sandwiches and smoked fish!  Our kitchen has been designed to serve as a teaching kitchen as well - we will soon be scheduling Get Fresh Cooking Classes with!

Farm Market participating in FestEvents!

The Farm Market has agreed to participate in 3 of the FestEvents Festivals as a "healthy food alternative." They are the:
Cajun Food Festival July 31, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2;
The Acoustic Music Festival Sunday, September 27 and
The Town Point Wine Festival October 17 & 18.

I'm not sure that folks who go to these festivals want anything more than a funnel cake and a turkey leg, but we are coming up with some awesome menu ideas! Pray for nice weather and come out and support us!
